matuod + film + first week + yearbook

Fri Jun 19, 2009, 10:20 PM
Suddenly..a blog entry. LOL

Okay. So it's been busy this past week. A sudden trip to batangas right before school starts kind of drained my energy for the first week of class. But it was fun, so I don't regret it. :) (This might be long, LOL)

Matuod

Last weekend, June 13-15, was my last days of (extended) vacation. I was suddenly able to join the Batangas trip with my org (up iris) since first day was moved to June 16. I didn't have much time to prepare, so I was only able to bring one roll of film and forgot to bring my extra battery for my dslr. Well, I managed somehow. LOL. It was my second time to go there, but this trip was still a different experience from the first one. It was like going there for the first time..again. :XD: Maybe because more people were able to join, which made it more fun and of course, gives a different atmosphere.

The bonfire, great! (mmm...smores.)
The sunset, gorgeous! (as always.)
The company, priceless. (thanks, everyone!)

My favorite part of the trip would have to be the surprise guests! Well, I didn't know about them, so it was a surprise for me. During our stay there, we were able to watch a group of 7 musicians called Cultures in Harmony. They introduced their instruments (2 violins, a viola, a cello, a french horn, an oboe, and a piano which was already in the venue) and performed for the kids there. It was really fun interacting with them. And! We were even able to shoot them (with our camera's, of course!). Why is it my favorite part? First, as a music major, I enjoyed their performance. They all played well! Second, I didn't think I'd be able to listen to beautiful, live music during this trip. Their best number would have to be the string quartet. They really blended well. I particularly like how the cellist plays his part. He's very expressive and he brings out a beautiful ringing sound. But all of them were really, really good! :D

Okay, I'll end it here. It's getting pretty long. haha. You can check out a few photos in my gallery, or the full album in my multiply: [link] (digital) and [link] (film)

Film

After developing my film shots from matuod and looking at my digital shots, I noticed I took better shots using my film slr. I've noticed some improvement because I only wasted around 5 shots. LOL. I used to waste about half a roll. But I'm still not that confident in using film. Everytime I shoot using it, I'm always so nervouse thinking I might just waste my money developing bad shots. Or I'm always thinking it might look different from what I wanted it to look like. Well lately it's been good, but I still can't shake of this feeling of uncertainty.

First week of School

As usual, the first week of classes were not so hectic. The only problem is how to photocopy all the pieces and books you need when everyone else is doing the same. I really feel bad for our 2 Ate Xerox. They are always nagged by people to rush what they need to xerox. Come on, people. Have a heart. It's not that easy to xerox 1 whole book for a class of 20+ you know.

My hardest class would have to be MuL14 - Western Music. The teacher gives DAILY quizzes BEFORE discussion and you have to get 6/10 or else you have to step out. :ohnoes: It's really haaaaaarrrd. His readings are around 15 pages long for each day and he'll only get 10 questions out of those 15 pages. And the information? Nosebleed. D:

I only have 1 GE though, comm3. This class is fun! Yesterday we had our diagnostic speech, and had to tell the whole class our most embarrassing moment. LOL. Everyone was laughing really loud, in unison. haha! The teacher's fun, too. He's always making joke's and makes sure the class is very active. And, he's only 21. Cool.

Yearbook

FINALLY, it was delivered to our house. After a year of attempting to finish it, we actually did! :boogie: That's a big load off my shoulders. The only problem I have to think of now is the distribution. Oh well, at least it's done. Yay!

A very big thanks to my co-staff! :iconclovertea: :icondandelionaide: :iconraxelrock: myles david and nikko! (I hope i didn't forget anyone)

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Life is like a clean canvas. We are the artist.
For every stroke and every color we use dictates the output.
It doesn't matter how we render it as long as we can proudly say it is our masterpiece.
